All stones can be processed and carved into monument patterns. But in terms of the use environment, most marbles are not suitable for making monuments.
The suitable material for making a monument is granite. Almost all graveyards and tombstones are made of granite. So, why do we choose granite for making monuments?

Compared with granite, marble has soft physical properties, but it has many colors, usually with obvious patterns and many mineral particles. Therefore, it is commonly used in indoor decoration, such as indoor walls, windowsills, floors, etc. marble is a natural building decoration stone material. However, marble contains calcium carbonate, which is easy to be affected by carbon dioxide and water vapor in the atmosphere, and is easy to be weathered and corroded, so the marble surface will lose luster soon.

Compared with marble, granite has a uniform structure, hard texture, and beautiful color. It is a high-quality building stone. Granite is not easy to be weathered, and its appearance and color can be maintained for more than a hundred years. Because of its high hardness and wear resistance, it can be used as a stone material for outdoor carving or for making tombstones.

On the one hand, it is hard and weather resistant, and on the other hand, compared with marble, granite is cheaper and more suitable for making monuments.
